Media: Shoigu’s Deputy Is Suspected Of Treason

The bribe is only the public part of the accusation.

Two unrelated sources from the Russian publication “Important Stories”, close to the FSB, said that the real reason for the arrest of Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Timur Ivanov was treason.

“A bribe is for the public. So far they don’t want to talk publicly about treason — it’s a big scandal: after all, he’s the Deputy Minister of Defense,” says one of the sources.

“No one would have detained him for corruption. Everyone there [in the Kremlin] knew about this for a long time. Putin gave the command after they managed to convince him that this was precisely a matter of treason,” says another source.

According to media interlocutors, the DVKR is engaged in operational support of the current case against Ivanov. “Now they are deciding what to do with him: either they will jail him for a bribe and “finish him off” already in prison, or reclassify the charge as treason,” says a source close to the FSB.
