Another Dam Broken In Russia: Tomsk Goes Under Water

The water level in the local river approached the critical mark.

The natural disaster caused by floods continues to hit the territory of Russia, local media write.

Following Orenburg region, Russia's Tomsk has started to go under water. The water level in the local river has approached the critical mark of 750 cm, with only 3 cm remaining.

The flood zone is rapidly expanding, and the coming water has already had its devastating effects. According to the information received, the earthen dam at the local bridge has collapsed because of the overflow of the river.

The mayor of Tomsk has already announced the start of evacuation of the neighbouring Garden Association of "Levoberezhye", stressing that the water has come very close.

In Tomsk district, the authorities have evacuated 84 people from the settlements of Vershinino, Baturino and Chernaya Rechka. There are 12 people, including three children, in a centre of temporary residence in the village of Vershinino.

The threat of emergency situation on the rivers Inya, Berd, Tara and Tartas remains in Novosibirsk region, said the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Viktor Orlov.

In Kurgan region, the water level in the Tobol River is expected to rise by 25-80 cm in the next three days due to increased water discharge from the Troitsk and Karatamar reservoirs, the Emergencies Ministry said.
