Representative of the Israeli Foreign Ministry Lior Haiat criticized the appointment of Vadzim Hihin as the director general of the National Library of Belarus.

He cited the mention of the propagandist in the 2021 Anti-Semitism Assessment Report prepared by the Israeli Ministry of Diaspora.

“In light of his antisemitic statements and denial of the Holocaust on various occasions in the past, the Diaspora Ministry's 2021 antisemitism assessment report cited Vadzim Hihin as someone who contributed to the exclusion of Jewish remembrance, which is as an essential part of Holocaust commemorations.

There is no justification for appointing such a person to the position of director of the National Library of Belarus,” he wrote.
