The part of the Russian population that does not support President Vladimir Putin should be isolated or destroyed, Russian State Duma deputy Andrei Gurulev said on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.

According to the idea of Gurulev, a United Russia member and member of the defense committee of the lower house, about 20% of Russian citizens could be subject to “destruction.” This is approximately 29 million people, according to Rosstat, which estimates the country's permanent population at 146.4 million people.

At the moment, society “trusts the president 80%,” Gurulev said on the show of propagandist Vladimir Solovyov. “This is the level of unity that we have today,” he said.

“And I would like that in this society of ours ...> that all this rot that remains should be, if not isolated, then at least somehow destroyed,” Gurulev said.

He also expressed confidence that Putin, Russia's longest-serving ruler since Stalin, would win the upcoming presidential election in March 2024. “I know for sure that he will win thoroughly. It will be the victory that all this trash like Macrons, Bidens, Scholzes and so on have never seen in their wildest dreams,” said the deputy.
