A Tough Question For Lukashenka's Pet

The way officials manage to stay at the feedbox for ten years on promises alone.

Prime Minister Raman Halouchanka dared to ask about the actual timing of the creation of the Belarusian electric car, Solidarity writes.

To understand the essence of the situation, one must remember the promises of one of the ruler's favorites — the head of the Academy of Sciences, Uladzimir Husakou. He makes a career out of saying exactly what Aliaksandr Lukashenka wants to hear.

For example, the latter wants to see the creation of a domestic electric car in the country. Let's follow Husakou’s statements on this issue.

“Prototype” of the Belarusian electric car, demonstrated in 2017

In 2018 (five years ago!) the head of the Academy of Sciences said that a modified Belarusian-made electric car could see the light of day before the end of the year. He also said that thanks to his own developments and filling (from the engine to all other systems), the price of an electric car will be affordable: within $ 15-16 thousand.

In the spring of 2019, Husakou reiterated that Belarusian electric vehicles could go on sale by the end of the year.

In the autumn of 2022, the head of the Academy of Sciences said that the Belarusian mass-use electric car would not be very expensive (“I spoke with the head of state today that it should not be more than $20-25 thousand”) – already without specifying the timing of its creation.

The other day, the head of the Academy of Sciences said that the production of a “union” electric car was being discussed with the Russians, but there were no concrete results yet...

And against the backdrop of this long history of promises, Prime Minister Raman Halouchanka, arriving at Belkommunmash on January 25, said that it was necessary to determine the real time frame for the creation of a domestic passenger electric car.

Perhaps the Prime Minister did not hint at anything like that, but his words sounded quite bold: he did not take it all in like Lukashenka, but raised the question specifically.

However, it seems that no one gave an answer to Halouchanka. Experience tells officials that on promises to the authorities alone, one can hold out close to the feedbox for ten years.
