ISW: Guerrillas Successfully Attack Railroads Used By Russia

  • 5.07.2022, 8:54

The sabotage campaign is well organized.

Ukrainian guerrillas are targeting railroads used by Russia near temporarily occupied Melitopol in the Zaporizhzhia region, according to a July 4 report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). The Institute listed guerrilla attacks that have recently become known.

On July 3, Ukrainian guerrillas blew up a railroad bridge near occupied Lubymivka between Melitopol and Tokmak in the Zaporizhzhia region, likely thwarting Russians to transport supplies from Crimea to the front line.

On July 2, Ukrainian partisans derailed a Russian armored train carrying ammunition near Melitopol.

They had previously struck Russian armored trains and locomotives in Melitopol in late April and mid-May.

ISW analysts this activity may indicate a coordinated guerrilla campaign against the railroads that Russia is using to wage war against Ukraine.
