Major Fire Breaks Out In Russia's Belgorod Region

The town is 90 kilometres from the border with Ukraine.

A large fire has broken out in Russia's Belgorod region today, December 8. Locals report an "arrival".

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to local Telegram channels.

The incident took place in the town of Yakovlevo. Locals claim there was a sound similar to an explosion before the fire.

According to other sources, air defence systems were allegedly activated in the region. Russian authorities have not yet commented on the incident. Published footage shows a large column of black smoke over the town.

It is worth noting that the town of Yakovlevo is located to the north of Belgorod, about 90 kilometres from the border with Ukraine.
