Lukashenka said that the U.S. Department of State warned Belarusian diplomats about the possible consequences of increasing the presence of Russian troops in Belarus:

“Literally twenty-four hours ago I've received the threatening position of the U.S. Department of State. They came to our diplomats in New York and threatened us: yes, if you allow Putin and Russia, allow it, then we will impose sanctions. If you return these nuclear weapons to Belarus, this and that will happen,” the usurper said.

It should be noted that earlier the U.S. Department of State stated that Russia could deploy its nuclear forces in Belarus.
