Today Is Leanid Sudalenka's Birthday

The well-known human rights activist is turning 55 years old.

Today is the 55th birthday anniversary of the well-known human rights activist, chairman of the branch of the Human Rights Centre "Viasna" in Homel, laureate of the French prize "Freedom-Equality-Fraternity" and the prize of Charter-97, Leanid Sudalenka. He celebrates his anniversary behind bars.

Leanid is a human rights activist with 20 years of experience. He has helped to prepare and send numerous individual appeals to the UN Human Rights Committee against Belarus.

The trial of political prisoner human rights defender Leanid Sudalenka, as well as volunteers Tatsiana Lositsa and Maryja Tarasenka began on September 3 and is held behind closed doors.

The editorial board of Charter97.org congratulates Leanid on his anniversary and hopes that he will soon be free.
