According to the documents, the place of origin of tomatoes is the Mahiliou region.

Last week, the Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import of 9 tons of tomatoes from our country. The inspectors stated that the shipment was contaminated with a pest. Actually, 9 tons is not very much, but there is a peculiarity. According to the documents, the place of origin of tomatoes is an enterprise in the Mahiliou region, writes onliner.by.

According to the Russians, the Belarusian service of plant quarantine issued a certificate for the party, confirming the phytosanitary safety. Now they are going to figure out how this happened.

Rosselkhoznadzor claims the tomatoes are infected with western flower thrips. From the point of view of farmers, this pest is about a millimeter long.

The cargo was destined for a recipient in Moscow.

They did not destroy the pests but returned them to homeland (which is listed on the documents). The cargo was accompanied by a note: "The Western Flower Thrips is one of the most dangerous quarantine pests and poses a serious threat to indoor flowers and ornamental plants, as well as vegetable crops... The pest is prolific and can cause enormous damage to agriculture."
