Lukashenka Is In Trouble

The Cockroach was shown that his political and physical survival did not depend on him.

During a meeting with the People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Yevgeniy Shevchenko on April 20, Aleksandr Lukashenka spoke about the conflict in Donbas.

The meeting with the Ukrainian deputy took place a day before Lukashenka's departure to Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin.

“Lukashenka has demonstrated that his political and physical survival depends on the will of the Kremlin”

Director of the Center for Strategic and Foreign Policy Studies Arseni Sivitsk in his commentary to udf noted that Moscow is exerting psychological pressure on Lukashenka in anticipation of negotiations with Putin.

“Lukashenka has demonstrated that his political and physical survival depends on the will of the Kremlin. That if Minsk does not make certain strategic concessions (deepening integration, transit of power through the constitutional reform), then the next coup attempt, which will be planned in Moscow, may be successful,” Sivitski said.

Also, in his opinion, the aim was to exert psychological pressure on the Belarusian leadership on the eve of the talks in Moscow on April 22 between Putin and Lukashenka.

"The Kremlin makes Lukashenka dependent and will bill him for his good services in preventing a' coup d'etat," Sivitski said.

"Lukashenka got stuck"

Politician Viktar Karneenka said in a comment:

“Lukashenka said this not for the ears of the Ukrainian deputy, but for the ears of Putin. If earlier he had a completely neutral position on Crimea, Donbas, and, until recently, Lukashenka allowed himself to criticize Kyiv: “Why did you not defend Crimea with arms in hand?”, today he has dramatically changed his position. Which is understandable: any criticism of Putin can turn into an extremely undesirable result for Lukashenka,” Karneenka believes.

On the eve of the meeting with Lukashenka, in his message to the Federal Assembly, Vladimir Putin was indignant that the West had not condemned the "coup d'etat attempt in Belarus." Why is he so worried about this?

“There is an impression that the Russian special services were actively involved in organizing this provocation. Therefore, it is clear that while the whole world laughs at the "attempt," Putin is outraged. Moscow seeks to derive its political benefits from this story. Putin intends to make an offer to Lukashenka that he cannot refuse. The threat to the sovereignty of Belarus is growing stronger, because Lukashenka has played too much, has completely fallen into Russian dependence," Karneenka believes.
