More than 90% of the cigarettes smuggled into its territory in 2020 came from our country.

This is reported by the naviny.by website, citing the Lithuanian customs.

"In fact, it is a large-scale smuggling, - the director of the Customs Department of Lithuania, Jonas Miškinis, cited by the BNS agency, said.

According to him, last year 388 million cigarettes were smuggled into Lithuania, 93% of which came from Belarus.

Speaking at a meeting of the parliamentary commission on budget and finance, Miškinis noted that such volumes of smuggling "require certain steps at the political level as well".

It should be noted that Belarusian cigarettes are also smuggled into the territories of other countries. Thus, in December last year, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported the seizure of a large batch of smuggled cigarettes coming from Belarus. The bags contained 2,000 packs of cigarettes made in Belarus.
