Strike Is Legal

Officials and security officials will join the strike.

In connection with the announcement of a national strike in Belarus on November 1, ex-presidential candidate, leader of the European Belarus civil campaign Andrei Sannikau made an appeal:

- Dear compatriots!

As you know, the Belarusian Workers' Union and its leader Siarhei Dyleuski announced the preparation of a nationwide strike.

I fully share and support this initiative. Moreover, I consider it to be the most adequate way out of the deepest crisis into which mediocre impostors have brought us. In today's situation, what has been proposed by the BOR (Belarusian Workers' Association) protects not only our rights, not only is a continuation of the revolution and the process of change of power in Belarus, which will surely end in victory, but also protects our independence.

A new form of the strike has been proposed: stay at home, do not go to work, to institutions. Both the form and initiative itself are very wise because the worst wave of the covid epidemic is raging in Belarus today. Lukashenka is doing everything so that as many people as possible become infected with this terrible disease, as many people as possible die from it. It is often said: let's do this, let's change the government, let's go on strike for our children. I will say: let's do it for the sake of our elderly parents. Lukashenka's genocide is directed primarily against them, primarily against the elderly.

The 10 demands put forward by the workers are absolutely legal, as is the strike itself. I say this responsibly because it complies with both domestic and international legislation, primarily the ILO (International Labor Organization) Convention, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. But the obstruction of this strike, the obstruction of the movement to change the government, which we rightfully have, will be punished by international sanctions.

I think that not only workers but also officials and security officials can join the strike. To do this, you need to take only one step: remember your dignity, stop being a lackey, look into the eyes of your family, your citizens, and join the general movement of the people of Belarus to change the government, this criminal, bandit power.

We will definitely achieve freedom. Long live Belarus!
