He has signed the letter demanding new elections.

Aliaksei Batsiukov, director of the Museum of History of Mahiliou, has received a notification that his contract will not be renewed. He told about it to tut.by.

According to Batsiukou, he received the notification in the Mahiliou city executive committee yesterday, January 6. The document was signed on January, 4. The director will work at his post till February, 16.

- It was funny there - they gave it and asked. Why don't you ask us [about the reasons]. I said, "What is there to ask, everything is clear". That's how they decided.

Batiukov has been in charge of the museum since 2011. During this time, the institution has managed to return to Belarus and replenish its collection with valuable artifacts, thanks to donations from citizens and companies. Among them is the Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It was a unique event for Belarusian culture.

Earlier, the museum director, along with six subordinates, signed an open letter condemning the "unmotivated brutality of law enforcement officers," and noting that "citizens do not feel safe." Among the demands was Lukashenka's resignation.
