World Modern Pentathlon Championships Moved From Minsk to Cairo

The World Modern Pentathlon Championship will be held in Cairo (Egypt) instead of Minsk, as the International Union of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) official website informs. The tournament will take place from 7 to 13 June, tut.by reports.

It is noted that the city has already hosted the 2017 World Modern Pentathlon Championship.

Let us remind you that the UIPM Executive Committee unanimously decided to postpone the tournament in Minsk. The reason for this decision was the unstable situation in the country, which could threaten the success of the competition. In addition, the sanctions imposed by the International Olympic Committee against the National Olympic Committee of Belarus were taken into account.

Earlier, for the same reason, Belarus lost the right to host the 2021 Ice Hockey World Championship. The tournament was to be held in Riga and Minsk.
