"Protests Caused Severe Psychological Trauma To Lukashenka"

  • 27.01.2021, 10:23

But spring may come as an even bigger shock to the dictator.

The admonitions that came out of Lukashenka's mouth when he appointed the new leaders on January 26 were quite eloquent, political observer Aliaksandr Klaskouski writes.

It is obvious that he expects to tighten state policy in various spheres and finally crush the political protest with the help of the new cadres.

The protests after the 2020 elections seem to have caused Lukashenka the strongest psychological trauma. Now for the rest of his reign, he will seek to keep the country frozen.

But the country has changed a lot in the past year.

The "misguided", as Lukashenka calls the part of society that does not like him, have become very numerous. It is not apparent that it will be possible to grind down their enthusiasm for changes. The coming spring will show a lot.
