Vilnius plans to disconnect all lines with Belarus and the Kaliningrad region of Russia.

The Lithuanian operator LItgrid has cut off two 300 kilovolt power lines connecting Lithuania and Belarus.

Both gateways are down due to repairs, Delfi said. One does not work at the request of the Lithuanian, the second - the Belarusian side.

Lithuania and Belarus are connected by four 330 kV transmission lines and six 110 kV transmission lines. In 2019, the most powerful transmission line of 750 kV Ignalina NPP - Minsk CHPP-5 - was turned off and dismantled.

The Ignalina NPP - Pastavy line is now shut down as part of a project to synchronize with the European Union networks. After the completion of synchronization with the EU, Lithuania plans to disconnect all lines with Belarus and the Kaliningrad region of Russia.
