The Seim will consider the document on the illegitimacy of the dictator at a meeting on October 1.

The Latvian Seim Commission approved the statement on the non-recognition of Lukashenka as the President of Belarus, Radio Svaboda reports.

“Latvia does not recognize the election results announced by the Belarusian authorities, and draws attention to the fact that the mandate based on these results cannot be considered democratically obtained, and legitimate,” the document, which was developed after Lukashenka's inauguration, says.

The draft statement, prepared in cooperation with the Latvian Foreign Ministry, also strongly condemns the actions of the Belarusian authorities against the demonstrators, and the unjustified persecution of protesters, journalists and other members of the society during mass protests.

The Seim is expected to consider the document at its extraordinary meeting on October 1.
