It has exceeded $ 270 million.

The amount of Belarus' gas debt to PJSC Gazprom has grown from $ 165.6 million at the end of May to $ 273 million at present, an informed source told Interfax-Zapad.

“At present, the amount of debt for gas supplies from the Russian Federation for Belarus is $ 273 million,” the source said.

At the same time, the source did not rule out that “the debt problem can be resolved in the near future”. According to it, “the debt is expected to be repaid”.

As reported, at the end of May, Head of Gazprom Alexey Miller said that the Belarusian side had accumulated a debt for gas supplies from the beginning of this year in the amount of $ 165.57 million. The Ministry of Energy of Belarus, in turn, declared that there was no debt, and stated disagreements over the determination of the cost of the supplied natural gas, taking into account its calorific value.

The head of Gazprom then stressed that paying off the debt would allow negotiations on the gas price to begin in 2021.
