(updated) The decision on border closures does not apply to CIS countries.

Restrictions on entry to Russia imposed on March 18 do not apply to citizens of CIS countries, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The corresponding order was signed by the Russian government, RIA Novosti reports.

It will be recalled that Russia closed the border on March 18. The decision is taken "to ensure the security of the state, protection of public health and non-spread of coronavirus infection".

The Russian government says the decision regarding Belarus was taken due to lack of efforts in the fight against coronavirus by Minsk.
