Head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry: Belarusians Will Fight For Their Independence

According to Vadim Pristaiko, there are only two options left.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Pristaiko said in an interview with the Czech edition Respekt that there is a risk of war between Russia and Belarus. Pristaiko relates this to a possible struggle of Belarusians for independence.

According to Pristaiko, "Belarus is going through a difficult time".

- Several years ago I spoke to several Belarusian journalists, and when I officially told them that if they wanted to remain independent, they would face the same war, the same difficulties and the same suffering as we did, they did not believe me. Perhaps, now they have less doubts about it, - the Ukrainian Foreign Minister said.

Pristaiko hopes he's wrong, as the Belarusians are "calm and patient". At the same time, he notes, the Ukrainians were the same "until they started killing us". In his view, the Belarusians have only two options left - to stay "prudent and calm - and lose, or start fighting right now".
