Latvia does not recognize the election results published by the Belarusian authorities.

Latvian Parliament adopted a statement in which Lukashenka is not recognized as the legitimate president of Belarus, bb.lv reports.

The Parliament's statement "On the legitimacy of the mandate of the president of Belarus" says that the Parliament does not recognize Lukashenka as the legitimate president of Belarus. "Reiterating that the presidential elections held on August 9 were neither free nor fair, that Latvia does not recognize the election results published by the Belarusian authorities, we point out that the mandate received in these elections is not considered democratically received and legitimate," says the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia.

The document states that it was created in response to the ceremony of Lukashenka's inauguration as President of Belarus on September 23, which was kept secret until the last moment, and during which Lukashenka took the oath of office for a sixth term, thereby only deepening the political crisis in Belarus.
