Lukashenka Announced "Congress Of People Of Belarus" In Late February

It happened during a meeting with the chairman of the FTU.

On January 20, during a meeting with the chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTU), Mikhail Arda, Lukashenka announced the holding of "All-Belarusian People's Assembly" in late February, Belsat reports with reference to Lukashenka's press service.

"This [FTU congress] is a large-scale internal event. Especially for such a politically important year: presidential "elections," "Congress of the People of Belarus" - "All-Belarusian People's Assembly," which will develop a strategy for the future. Trade unions should come into play here," - the ruler said.

The first "All-Belarusian People's Assembly" was held in October 1996. The next meetings were held in 2001, 2006, 2010 and 2016. Only in 2016, the "All-Belarusian People's Assembly" was held after the presidential "elections".

Last year, in May, Lukashenka instructed Mikhail Arda to organize and conduct "parliamentary election campaign" "beautifully".
