Ammonia Released At Miory Plant

About 700 people were evacuated from a nearby school.

The emergency happened around noon on September 25: ammonia was discharged in the workshop of the Polatsk branch of OJSC Malako in Miory, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the ammonia emission occurred due to depressurization of the welded seam of the refrigeration unit. The shop was temporarily shut down. Employees left the territory of the enterprise.

There is a school 200 meters away from the scene. 560 children and 110 adults were evacuated from the school.

The welded seam of the unit was sealed. No one was injured. The cause of the technical malfunction is being established.
