Bahdan Mastsich was tried for hooliganism, abuse of power, inaction and the destruction of documents.

On September 10, the court of the Central District of Homel sentenced a former employee of the Economic Crimes Department. The ex-policeman was tried for hooliganism, abuse of power, inaction and destruction of documents, writes tut.by.

The verdict for the accused was pronounced on his birthday. Mastsich was sentenced to four and a half years of imprisonment in a penal colony - as the prosecutor requested.

The verdict has not entered into force.

Criminal cases against the former employee of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of the Central District Department of Internal Affairs Bahdan Mastsich were instituted in December 2018 and February 2019, by which time the employee had left the bodies.

Hooliganism, according to the investigators, was that the policeman had a fight with a taxi driver and hit him. The official’s inaction was incriminated to him for not making a decision on the check, the documents of which he kept at home. Another episode of the accusation: during the search at the place of a private company director, the policeman stole a document, for which he subsequently requested payment.

The former policeman himself completely denies guilt. He stated in the debate that criminal cases against him were instituted without reason, in violation of the law.

In his last word, Bahdan Mastsich called on the court to sort everything out and not to believe the “assumptions of the investigation”. He noted that not a single episode attributed to him has been proven.
