Now is the time to think about what will happen to the BelNPP.

The accident at the Russian Kalinin NPP in Tver region is a bad sign for Belarus, one of the leaders of the Belarusian National Congress, coordinator of the European Belarus civil campaign Yauhen Afnahel said.

Three reactors were stopped at this plant because of a short cut. According to c, the nuclear power plant is being built in Astravets, on the border with Lithuania, near the capital of this country, Vilnius, under a similar Russian project.

"We all know how it's being built. We know how the construction works are carried out in our country and how much care they give to the work. How construction materials are stolen, how neglectfully they perform their duties, how explosions happen in our country during fireworks, how trains get off the rails, how they build roads that fall apart in a year and a half. And a nuclear power plant is much more serious. Most Belarusians, I think, remember Chernobyl and know about the danger of nuclear power plants. This is very painful for our people," - Yauhen Afnahel said.

Yauhen Afnahel reminded that there were several serious accidents during the construction of the nuclear power plant in Astravets. For example, the reactor fell down and got damaged during the installation. But the authorities haven't informed the public about this and other cases. "They hide serious information from the population. So it's time for everyone to think about what we are creating, what we are launching and what danger it poses to our people and neighbors," - Yauhen Afnahel stated.
