BAOC Priest Father Vikentsi Fined For Participation In Charnobylski Shliakh

The sentence was passed by the court of Pershamaiski district of Minsk.

The court of Pershamaiski district of Minsk fined the priest of the Belarusian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Father Vikentsi (Viktar Kavalkou) 15 base units (382.5 rubles) for participation in the Charnobylski Shliakh unauthorized by the authorities on April 26, as tut.by reports with reference to BelaPAN.

According to Father Vikentsi, the court found him guilty under Part 1 of Art. 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences (violation of the order of organizing or holding mass events). The priest noted that he had been fined for his participation in the gathering prior to the procession near the Academy of Sciences in Minsk.

In the evening of April 26, the participants of the Charnobylski Shliakh walked along the streets of Surganov and Orlovskaya to the Park of Friendship of Peoples, where they laid flowers at the monument to the victims of Chernobyl near the temple in honor of the icon of the Mother of God.

After the march, more than a dozen activists and politicians were fined, including co-chairman of the organizing committee of the BCD Volha Kavalkova, deputy chairman of the " Green" party Dzmitry Kuchuk, economist Siarhei Chaly and advertiser Uliya Liashkevich.
