Who Will Monitor ‘External And Internal Information Flows’ In Belarus?

Lukashenka has created a puppet analytical institute.

On, February 12, the dictator signed a decree on the establishment of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies. Aleh Makarau will head it, Lukashenka’s press-center reports.

It is informed that the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies is being created “for the purpose of informational and analytical support of the activities of state bodies in the strategic areas of foreign and domestic policy,” writes “Your Country’s Tomorrow”.

The focus of this research institution will be to conduct research, study the trends in the development of international, socio-political and socio-economic processes, consider risks and challenges in the information sphere.

The Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies will develop recommendations aimed at improving state policy in various fields, will take part in the coordination of strategic planning documents developed by state bodies (doctrines, strategies, concepts).

To conduct analytical studies on strategic issues of sustainable development of the Republic of Belarus, it is planned to attract leading experts in the field of foreign and domestic policy, information technology, and national security. A more in-depth study of the issues under consideration will be facilitated by the close cooperation of the Institute for Strategic Studies with government agencies, international organizations, domestic and foreign think tanks (“factories of thought”).

Aleh Makarau previously headed the information and analytical department of the State Secretariat of the Security Council.
