Young Belarusians: Why Russia? We Have Our Own country

On December 7 and 8, mass rallies for the independence of Belarus were held in Minsk.

A young participant of the "Human Chain" told reporters:

"My name is Illia, I have come to take part in the "Human Chain," announced by Fresh Wind.

I'm for the independence of Belarus, that's why I'm here.

He was supported by his neighbor along the human chain:

"Why Russia? We have our own country. Our people have been fighting for independence for hundreds of years. And now selling it for oil and gas is the most unfavorable one can do. Even if salaries are higher in Russia, we have our own country. We must have pride and dignity.
