The head of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with Belarus addresses the readers of the Belarusian Charter97.org website.

The Charter-97 website has received a letter from Robert Biedroń, head of the European Parliament delegation for relations with Belarus and MEP from Poland (the Polish party Wiosna (Spring)). The European Parliamentarian says he intends to fight against the blocking of the popular news resource in Belarus.

We present the text of the appeal in full:

"Dear readers of Charter 97,

Before getting into politics, I was an activist fighting for human rights and democracy. These fundamental values remain my priorities also today. Media freedom and pluralism, of which you are deprived, are fundamental rights that should be available to all Belarussian citizens.

I have already met with representatives of Charter 97, who informed me in great details about the problems you are facing, and promised to keep me posted about any new developments.

In my capacity as chair of the EP Delegation for relation with Belarus I will support your cause and deterioration of media freedom will remain one of the EU’s priorities in regard to your country. Please rest assured that the European Parliament will not forget about you," - Robert Biedroń, the head of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with Belarus, said.
