Prices for Bananas, Apples, Education Grow High in Belarus

According to the National Statistical Committee, prices for goods and services rose by 0.5% in September, tut.by informs. Non-food products rose in price last month by 0.9%. To compare: inflation on food products amounted to 0.1% in September, while on paid services - 0.6%.

Non-food products rose in price by 0.9%. Food prices rose by 0.1%, while prices for services rose by 0.6%.

Since the beginning of the year, the prices for food products have increased by 2.2%, non-food products - by 3.2%, services - by 5.8%. Annual inflation (from September to September) for food products amounted to 5.8%, for non-food products - 3.5%, for services - 6.6%.

At the same time, deflation was recorded in Belarus in August. It amounted to 0.2%.

The authorities predict inflation of no more than 5% this year (from December to December). According to the results of the first quarter, the price growth should not exceed 2.7% by December 2018, the second - 3.5%, the third - 3.7%, and at the end of the year - 5%. At the same time, inflation expectations of the population are growing in Belarus. According to the National Bank survey, 82.3% of respondents believe that prices will grow faster or at the same speed in the next 12 months.
