Prince Schwarzenberg About Kurapaty: There Was Similar Situation In Czech Republic
- 19.06.2018, 11:15
The former Czech Foreign Minister has commented on the conflict around Kurapaty.
Prince Karel Schwarzenberg, a member of the Czech parliament, a former Czech Foreign Minister (2007-2009, 2010-2013) commented on the conflict around Kurapaty in Belarus and recalled a similar situation in the Czech Republic, Radio Svaboda reports.
– In the place where so many people died, there should be a memorial zone where people can remember those shot, think about what led to those executions. And there should be a monument to the dead.
I have nothing against restaurants in principle, but not in such a place. There must not be a restaurant at the graves of those shot. It's just disrespect for the dead.
We had a similar problem in Leta, in the south of the Czech Republic: a pigsty was built near the Gipsy concentration camp of the Second World War, but thank God, it was demolished.
I hope that things will not go so far in Belarus, but in my opinion, the smartest decision would be to close this restaurant, or even remove it at all.
