The organizing committee to celebrate the BPR’s 100th anniversary has informed the international community about its plans.

Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian People's Front Party Aliaksei Yanukovych spoke at a press conference of the National Organizing Committee on the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian People's Republic.

Charter97.org publishes Aliaksei Yanukovych’s speech:

– Local organizing committees to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian People's Republic have been set up in all the regional centers of Belarus. Each of them includes a wide range of democratic organizations, which are represented in the regions of Belarus.

Each of these organizing committees has its own celebration plan. The events include concerts, meetings of historians, mass festive events. The applications for mass events are planned to be filed at least in Brest and Hrodna. Written appeals to celebrate together the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Belarusian People's Republic are being sent to the regional executive committee heads everywhere. This concept has been approved by the National Organizing Committee and is being implemented by regional organizing committees. We address the authorities at the local and republican level with the appeal to celebrate together this date, which is important for the whole of Belarus.

The organizing committee is also informing the international community about the plans for the celebration, the plans for a mass march in Minsk, and the significance of the BPR’s heritage for Belarus and the whole region.

Organizing committee representatives meet with ambassadors and representatives of the embassies, which are situated on the territory of Belarus. Such meetings have been held in the representational office of the European Union, the embassy of Great Britain, the USA, Lithuania, France, Germany.

Negotiations are conducted through party contacts of each subject of the organizing committee. The BPF party contacts with its colleagues from the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists, the center-right coalition negotiates with the representatives of the European People's Party, our colleagues from the left forces – with representatives of the leftist movements in the European Union.

We inform them that the events must not have a confrontational character, we are constructive and we want to celebrate this date, which is important for the whole Belarus. The Organizing Committee expects that the international community will act as an intermediary in communicating with the authorities. Undoubtedly, the issues of our independence are to be resolved within the country, and they are being resolved here.
