Belarusians To Medvedev: Nothing Else But European Union!

  • 18.12.2018, 12:46

Belarusians have commented on the offensive proposal of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation on “closer integration.”

The offensive proposal of the Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, about closer integration of Belarus with Russia was perceived by Biaroza district residents as a proposal to “affiliate” Belarus to Russia.

Common citizens said no almost unanimously. They do not see Russia as a reliable partner and in general believe that they must live independently, Radio Racyja reports.

– Of course not. Strongly against! Nothing else but the European Union. It was time to enter it about 20 years ago, then we would have had a decent life.

– Are you kidding me? Of course not. What for? We are a separate state.

– I am for an independent Belarus.

– We do not agree. We’d better turn to the West.

– When our collective farm was a separate unit, it was very good. And after they combined us, our village got completely abandoned. We must live on our own.

And people are afraid of the Crimean scenario. They do not want to see “green men” on their territory.
