Karahin: If Wages Don’t Grow, Two Million Young Belarusians Will Flee From Here

The average salary in Belarus is lower than in the neighboring countries.

Chairman of the Republican Confederation of Entrepreneurship Uladzimir Karahin spoke about the threat such fact poses at the Forum of Regional Development of the Mahiliou region, Solidarity writes.

In his opinion, the country needs to fulfill the task to increase the average salary "to BYN 1200-1500-2000."

- Otherwise, two million young people will flee from us. The wages in Belarus should in no case be lower than in the neighboring countries, - said Uladzimir Karahin.

- However, how can this be done? Nobody can hand out money - there is no gold reserve for that. Salary can only be earned by increasing labor productivity. Earnings in the new economy should be 500-1000 euros per worker. Otherwise, enterprises will be uncompetitive in terms of retaining people.
