Rumas Convened Emergency Meeting Because Of Belarusians’ Wages Are Falling

There is panic in the government.

In September, the average salaries of Belarusians fell by almost 24 rubles, even according to official statistics. We remind that earlier, the Council of Ministers stated that, according to data for September of the current year, the “average salary” in the country allegedly “could reach the level of about 1000 rubles.”

Today, Prime Minister Siarhei Rumas has held a working meeting on wages in the country, the press service of the government informs.

As the Prime Minister notes, the data on wages for September is available. They turned out to be far below the government’s expectations. “The fall in revenue due to fluctuations in the exchange rate of the Russian ruble did not allow many enterprises to maintain the level of salaries. The average salary in the real sector of the economy fell to the level of August,” – Siarhei Rumas said.

“Significant deviations in certain regions and ministries show that the average wage target is not a priority for all the government bodies,” – the Prime Minister concluded.

A deep analysis of the reasons for the return on the dynamics of wage growth will be a subject of examination at the meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers.
