‘Frightful Neighbour’: Children From Near Brest Draw Battery Factory

Residents of the villages from near Brest continue their protest against the construction of a battery factory.

A battery factory is planned to be constructed near Brest, regardless of the locals’ protests. The residents of the Stsimava settlement in Brest region sent children’s drawings depicting the “frightful neighbour” to the editor’s office of the belsat.eu.

The residents of the village of Khaby and the settlement of Stsimava from near Brest are protesting against the construction of a battery factory, which is planned to be located just several kilometers away from the regional center. Villagers, environmentalists are ringing the alarm bells, while the officials assure that the new enterprise will feed almost two hundred families.

Bresters believe that the battery factory iPower, which is now under construction in the free economic zone “Brest”, will be harmful for the health of the locals. On Monday night, the authorities will meet with the local residents to discuss the construction of the factory.

“We are most of all afraid of health damage, as these harmful wastes have a feature of not manifesting themselves at once, but accumulating in a human body,” — a Khaba resident says.

Meanwhile, the battery factory is not the only enterprise which Viktar Lemiasheuski’s company is planning to build at this site. In the perspective, iPower has plans regarding starting of production of traction and industrial batteries for floor transport and uninterruptible power supplies.
