The history of Belarus is inseparable from the fate of those who fought for its independence.

A series of events on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Belarusian People's Republic has already started in Belarus. And there is another landmark anniversary for the Belarusian statehood this year – the 150th anniversary of the BPR premiere, a country's major political figure, Raman Skirmunt, racyja.com reports.

Historian and ethnographer Edvard Zlobin is sure that there will also be a number of celebrations on this occasion, but the main thing is to put in order Skirmunt’s burial place: "The most important thing is to put in order Raman Skirmunt’s burial place for his 150th anniversary of the birth. It is known, but it was put on the map in the early 90's. In the late 90's, the mess was sorted out there. But it still doesn’t look the way such a person as Raman Skirmunt deserves."

Raman Skirmunt is known as a sponsor of the first Belarusian newspapers and national-democratic organizations. In 1917, he headed the first political body of the Belarusian people – the National Committee.
