Minister of Defense of Belarus Andrei Raukou said that the preparations for the holding of joint Belarusian-Russian military exercises West-2017 had entered the final stage, interfax.by informs.

"The command echelon and troops are ready to carry out the tasks. For this purpose, the appropriate groupings have been formed in the areas where combat training tasks are being carried out – at six ranges of the Armed Forces and two sectors of the terrain." According to the minister, "it remains to complete the relocation of the aviation, its Russian component – 27 aircrafts."

"We will jointly deploy our aircrafts at the prepared airfields and finish the mobilization, making ready the territorial defense forces of Hlubokae District, where the district headquarters and a separate rifle battalion of territorial troops are mobilized. All the other operations have been completed," – the Defense Minister said.

He also informed that it had been planned to conduct staff training on a number of issues on September 13.
