Belarus’s Chief Meteorologist Resigns After Lukashenka’s Words

Dzmitry Rabau hasn’t revealed the reasons for his resign.

Dzmitry Rabau, the chief of the Meteorological Forecast Service of the Belarusian HydroMetCenter at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, is leaving his position. He has informed this to tut.by.

According to him, he should leave the Belarusian HydroMetCenter. The most famous meteorologist of Belarus hasn’t revealed the reasons though.

Important to note, on September 14, Lukashenka criticized the quality of weather forecasts, when appointing a new Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.

“Their forecasts are impossible to read sometimes... Sometimes, having read them, I wish they had not made any forecasts at all. It’s more than a thousand people there. Deal with this structure and learn how to work from one structure — it’s a very small one — our army has it (in the Air Forces and the Air Defense Forces) — they provide detailed information for three days hour-by-hour, and they have made not a single mistake,” — the dictator said.

“When I am reading your information, and I receive it every day, I have a strong desire to disperse this organization,” — Lukashenka added.

Dzmitry Rabau is the most recognizeable face at the HydroMetCenter: he appeared on TV and in the media most often.
