Vorsha Residents Honored Memory Of Legendary Scythe-Bearer Commander

Activists remenbered the heroic fate of Kalinouski's comrade-in-arms Ihnat Budzilovich.

Few people know, but during the Kalinouski uprising, there was a Vorsha militia unit under the leadership of 22-year-old Ihnat Budzilovich. Today the territory where the Budzilovich's unit was fighting is in the territory of Liozna District, but every year Vorsha residents go to the monument to honor the people who fought "For our and your freedom," orsha.eu reports.

The last battle of the Vorsha detachment hppened on April 26, 1863, but only on August 28, detachment head Ihnat Budzilovich was executed on the territory of the city prison in Vorsha - today's architectural monument Former Jesuit Collegium. His body rests there now, but the exact place of disposition is not known.

For several years running, Vorsha activists from various democratic organizations and caring people come to the village of Pahosishcha of Liozna District to honor the memory of Budzilovich's detachment. Commemorative events took place there this year, too. Apart of laying flowers and a traditional minute of silence, people were listening to the poems dedicated to Kalinouski warriors.
