"One Cerebral Hemisphere Doesn't Know What Another Is Doing"

MAZ kicked the bucket and the authorities now deal with education.

Perhaps, no school year has recently started with such a mess and confusion. It's late August and there is still no infamous schedule "for Kolya" everyone pit wits against for so long. The issue about the start of classes will be decided at the end of the month at the republican teachers’ meeting.

Perhaps, other issues will be considered there, Lukashenka and his inner circle said the other day. It is primarily about a school uniform (which, perhaps, goes for teachers) and about return to the five-grade system.

How is it possible to make a child ready to school amid such fast pace of events? Charter97.org correspondent talked on the topic with a well-known blogger Jauhen Lipkovich. His daughter takes her final year at school.

- What do you think about absence of a new schedule that was announced six months ago?

- They are creeps, I think! Holy cats, there are enough problems in the country...

If you remember, Aliaksandr Radzkou was Minister of Education; he said that the country needed graduates from Vocational Technical Schools. Then he got a promotion and headed the Administration of Lukashenka. I guess this is his idea. Of course, Radzkou is not the head of the Administration anymore, but his business, as they say, flourishes.

I would say now the power suffers from sluggish schizophrenia, when one cerebral semisphere does not know what the other is doing.

On the one hand, Google buys a Belarusian company and shows the right way.

On the other hand, they are trying to introduce a four-grade system to assess knowledge of a pupil and a student. They are idiots, aren't they? Well, it all looks like an agony of the system. Higher officials do not know what they want.

- Was that scandalous "deputy" Ihar Marzalyuk who proposed a 4-grade system? Deputy Prime Minister Zharko still had an official talk with Lukashenka only on 5-grade system (A, B, C, D, E). Can the 4-grade system be adopted?

- Well, it is not important. The very question, all these talks about grades are a mess. The study of software engineering must be adopted in the country. And it does not matter whether Kolya understands it or not. If we want to survive as the country it must be adopted.

- But there should be also awareness-raising work. Lukashenka demanded students and pupils to wear school uniform on September 1. Will the school uniform become mandatory as it used to be in the USSR?

- It happens every year! My daughter goes to school. And every year work for the light industry begins. This uniform does not have any relation to upbringing or school traditions. First three months children wear this uniform. And later they wear usual clothes they like.

All these movements are just to unload warehouses of the light industry. It has nothing to do with upbringing or educational process. They just want the light industry has some work. In general, it's just outrageous! If you want the uniform at schools then make it free.

Once Zharko was said: don't your chickens grow up if you come up with something new every year? The quality of education falls in the country.

The average grade is getting lower at the centralized testing. This year, however, something has "flared up", but the general tendency is the lowering of the average grade.

But they make parents buy the "uniform". The same happens to food at schools. My daughter cannot eat it and complains all the time. We have to pay for it. The only variant is to get a certificate at hospital. I'm not talking about other duties and fees that the school comes up with. This is not a free education at all.

- Kolya Lukashenka will study other six years... Will there be surprises every year?

- To be honest, I do not care. My daughter takes her final year at school. I hope she will study at the university. And if the people tolerate it, there will be surprises every year.

While Kolya was growing up, the evening program of Cosmos-TV was changing. They adjusted themselves to him: some channels were removed, others were added. I do not want to exaggerate the "Kolya factor", but there is some strange influence.

They just have nothing to do. MAZ kicked the bucket and now they deal with the education. They can't make MAZ revive, and here they seem like doing something.
