  • 21.08.2017, 10:13

The Polish television is not able to finance the channel without the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Jacek Kursky, the chairman of the Polish Television Board, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that he would be forced to liquidate the Belsat TV channel if the department didn’t resume his support.

The periodical Dziennik. Gazeta Prawna reports that in his letter to Minister Vitold Vashchikovsky, Kursky claims that although he sees Belarus’ need of the channel, the Polish television cannot finance it independently.

And it will be forced to close Belsat without of the ministry’s support.

"This is not an ultimatum, but an attempt to save this TV channel," – the chairman writes.

The cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the state television on Belsat is nearing completion. The Ministry renounces the contract of 2007.

The decision comes into force on December 31 this year, which means that since 2018 the Polish state television will have to finance Belsat.
