  • 21.08.2017, 8:54

Graffiti "Belarus Is My Country" is white-red-white.

A stylish graffiti in the national style appeared in Dunin-Martsinkevich Street in Minsk.

According to the author, it took literally five minutes to achieve consent with the communal workers, Belsat reports.

"The housing maintenance service liked the idea. Besides, they, apparently, will have to give some kind of report before the City Day, that is, literally in twenty days. And they even asked us to do it faster!" – artist Maksim Piakarski says.

Local residents responded to the decoration in the yard positively.

"The mood improves when there’s something beautiful and our, Belarusian instead of a white wall! And I would be very happy if there were more images on the buildings, on the walls of the district. Even the mood is improving! And you can tell children about the country, and it is more interesting for them to live in such a place," – a local resident says.

"In any case, it makes the city look better. And the place becomes more atmospheric and European, attractive for tourists. That's why I'm on for it!" – another Minsker adds.

Among all else, the graffiti is interesting not only because of the image itself, but also due to the history of its author. Artist Maksim Piakarski is a former figurant of the so-called "graffiti case" and has been repeatedly subjected to persecution for his work.
