Yuras Belenki: We Do Not Participate In Something That Doesn't Exist

The Deputy Chairman of the BPF's Conservative Christian Party explained why the party was not going to participate in the "local elections."
– We could pretend that there really are transparent elections in the country, but what for? We are absolutely sure that this is not so, – Deputy Chairman of the Conservative-Christian Party of the Belarusian Popular Front Yuras Belenki says to Radio Racyja. – The experience of recent years demonstrates that the results of the "elections" are dictated from above, and therefore there is no sense in participating in such performance. In such circumstances, there is zero probability that someone not suitable for the authorities will win.
Why then participate in the farce? What is the purpose? Any action must be justified. And I do not see such goals at the "elections". On the contrary, voters are deceived. If we nominated candidates, we would immediately recognize that there are real democratic elections in the country. So how can we deceive people who trust us? It will be dishonest, even beyond morality. Therefore, I am very critical of those who are going to take part in all this and declare some goals.

– Such opposition by its actions kind of struggles to win, but in reality it supports the current regime. Participation in the "elections" is a signal for the West that the democratic elections are taking place in Belarus. As for "we have to do at least something", I do not understand this approach at all. Go to people and explain your position, express your opinion on a daily basis, and not only during the so-called "elections". Who hinders? This will be the real action and the real goal – to convey your ideas to people. Therefore, I do not believe in the sincerity of those to whom
