The State Border Committee of Belarus denied the information that Belarusians will need special permit to enter the border zone from the side of the Russian Federation from October 1.

According to Interfax, the State Border Committee of Belarus denied the information, spread by a number of media outlets, that Belarusians will need special permit to enter the border zone from the side of the Russian Federation from October 1.

"It is not planned to introduce passes for Belarusian citizens at the joint border area in the border zone of the Russian Federation," – the official statement of the State Border Committee says.

They recalled that on July 3, 2017, a draft order of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation "On Approval of the Border Regime Rules" was posted on the Federal Portal of Draft Normative Legal Acts. The draft defines the rules of the border regime in the border zone, including the rules of entry (passage), temporary stay and movement of persons and vehicles in the border zone of the Russian Federation.

According to subparagraph "d" of paragraph 2 of this draft order: "Entry (passage) to the border zone on identity documents is carried out by citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, who go to the border zone established along the Russian-Belarusian section of the state border."

"Thus, the draft of the above-mentioned order does not provide for any passes (special permits) for the citizens of Belarus who enter the border zone of the Russian Federation established along the state border with the Republic of Belarus," – the State Border Committee of Belarus notes.

"The information that "Belarusians will need special permit to enter the border zone from the side of the Russian Federation from October 1," disseminated by various sources on the Internet, is groundless," – the border authority stressed.
