Svetlana Alexievich About Interview On "Regnum": They Turned Everything Around

The Belarusian writer demands to publish an audio record of the scandalous interview.

Svetlana Alexievich has applied to the Regnum agency with a request to publish a full audio recording of her interview to Sergei Gurkin.

The agency employee introduced himself to the writer as a journalist of Delovoi Peterburg. The Nobel laureate forbade Gurkin to publish the interview, but despite that the conversation appeared on the agency's website.

"They turned everything around. For example, how can I justify murderers? I can only guess what motives they were guided by," – the writer said to Svaboda.

Svaboda appealed to the agency head Modest Kolerov with the question whether he was going to publish the audio record of Sergey Gurkin's conversation with Svetlana Aleksievich.

– No. What for? We have not got any claims from her regarding falsification of the text.

– It's not about falsification. It’s about the editing. Some of the phrases were dismissed.

– If the writer comes forward with a request to publish a conversation record, since she believes that the text was prepared, we will publish this record, – Modest Kolerov promised.

Svetlana Alexievich asked to consider Radio Svaboda the site, from which she publicly refers to the Regnum agency:

– Since the interview appeared in press, I ask to publish a full audio record of the whole conversation.
