Hrodna Activists Succeed In Getting Case On "Internet Picket" Dismissed

The case against Volha and Siarhei Verameyenka was dismissed due to the absence of an offense.

May 30, in the Leninsky district court of Hrodna, judge Ruslan Huryn delivered a verdict on the case of activists Volha and Siarhei Verameyenka from Hrodna: "the case is closed due to the absence of an offense," Radio Svaboda reports. A police witness has previously called the case an "Internet picket".

Police rated the photos, on which Siarhei and Volha Verameyenka were holding the white-red-white flag and which were signed “There are people just like Vasil in Hrodna” and “Just Like Vasil!!!”as an "unauthorized picket".

Verameyenka doesn't deny that he took pictures with a white-red-white flag and published them on Facebook to show solidarity with Vasil Paliakou, who was serving 15 days in Hrodna prison for carrying a white-red-white flag. Verameyenka believes that "a photography can not be considered a picket."
