Workers In Homel Oblast: Only Heads And Chiefs Live Here

There was almost a thousand inhabitants in the village of Patapauka in the Homel oblast a decade ago.

The local state farm produced milk and meat, cereals, legumes and fodder crops. Today, the administrative center of the village is in deep decline, Belsat reports.

It is impossible to find a job

"There are no vacancies at all. There are cut offs. And who is left here to be cut off? Only 20 persons are left here."

"Only those who are heads or chiefs live here, while there is no job for ordinary people, no wages. There are no wages for workers."

The locals survive mainly due to their own farms, or they go to work in Russia.
