Mega-Enterprises Massively Dismiss Workers

Eight large Belarusian enterprises have lost more than 2.3 thousand employees over the year.
Your Country’s Tomorrow has studied the large employers’ annual reports and drawn comparisons about the changes in the number of employees.
During the year, eight large Belarusian enterprises with more than 4,000 employees have lost more than 2.3 thousand employees.
Naftan – minus 722
As of the beginning of 2016, there were 10,730 people in the staff of one of the two Belarusian oil refineries, and at the end of the year – there were 10,008. The number of employees at the enterprise decreased by 6.7%.
Belaruskalii – minus 365
Over the year, the number of workers on one of the world's largest producers of potash fertilizers decreased by 2.1%. The reduction took place against the background of falling revenues and profits of the company. As of December 31, 2016, 16,540 people worked at Belaruskalii.
BMZ – the BMC holding management company – minus 360
The only metallurgical holding of the country – the Belarusian Metallurgical Company – has lost 3.2%, of workers. The number has decreased from 11,183 people to 10,008 people, but BMC is still on the list of "ten-thousand" companies.
Belshyna – minus 319
Last year, the number of workers decreased by 3% at the Babruisk factory – from 10,552 to 10,233 people.
Hrodna Azot – minus 194
Having received a net loss of almost 150 million rubles last year, Hrodna Azot reduced the number of employees by 2.5%. By the end of 2015, the company, which is the second largest fertilizer producer in Belarus, employed 7,749 people. By the end of 2016 – 7,555.
BelAZ-Holding – minus 193
One of the world's largest manufacturers of heavy vehicles finished 2016 relatively well, having increased both revenue and profit. However, as part of its restructuring, the number of employees decreased. Over the year, the average number of employees at the Zhodzina enterprise decreased by 1.9% – from 10,059 to 9,866 employees.
Intehral Holding – minus 134
The staff of one of the largest representatives of the electronic industry of Belarus – the holding company Intehral – decreased by 2.5%. The number of employees fell from 5,273 to 5,139 people.
MWTTP – minus 43
Against the background of other representatives of the machine-building industry, the Minsk Wheel -Tire Tractor Plant had a relatively good year. Nevertheless, the company also found itself on the list of business entities, where there was a reduction of staff. By the end of 2015, instead of 5,281 people, there were 5,238 people left at MWTTP (a decrease of 0.8%).
